Docile Tiger

Here we have a very friendly looking Tiger. On the hill in the background there are some Lupines, Sam's new favorite flower...why you ask...well because they look like a red light saber of course!

Long time, no post...

It's been a few months since our last post. Despite not having seen a Star Wars movie for almost 2 months, the Star Wars obsession does not show sign of fading. We have a whole pile of pictures, however most of them look eerily similiar. Here's a few examples of Sam's latest work:

Here we have Darth Vader (of course) after he has just finished cutting young Luke Skywalker's hand off. On the right, a young Luke (minus a hand) has fallen down a tunnel of some sort, while on the left we see both his decapitated hand and light saber falling down another tunnel. Out a window we see some fighter ships chasing the Millenium Falcon as it rushes back to save Luke.

Here is a very similiar picture. Once again Darth Vader is the central figure of the picture and we see Lukes hand and light saber tumbling down a tunnel. To the right is Obi Wan Kanobi's funeral pyre and on the left Yoda looks on from a tree branch.

This next one is a little strange. We have Darth, Luke, his hand and light saber but on the right we see a spider burning in a fire and another fire with what Sam called "Obi Wan bits and pieces". I told Sam that I thought it was sad and he quickly added in "Well.....I think that it was just a statue of Obi Wan, so it's not really pieces of him, just pieces of stone....because that would be mean if it was REALLY Obi Wan"....

A post from Mommy..

Hello everyone, this is Sam's mom, just dropping in to post a quick update. As of late our every waking moment and topic of conversation has turned to...Star Wars. I guess I knew it was inevitable, it's just that by 6 o'clock or so I really don't have the mental capacity left in me to answer anymore questions about how EXACTLY a light saber works (which for those of you who took high school science lab know...it's impossible for a light saber to actually work as one does in Star Wars) or how it is that Obi Wan Kanobi could "melt" if he was real and had bones...and where did all his blood go...and why didn't his clothes melt too? Anyway, as you could guess this recent obsession has transferred over to Sam's artwork..which are now very busy, intricate stories filled with fire, light sabers, darth vader, ghosts, dragons, monsters, witches, ect....pretty gruesome stuff. Here's some examples:

In case you couldn't tell, there is a total of about 27 light sabers between the two of them.

He did take a break and make this really sweet picture for my mom for her birthday though..It's a pink mommy and baby elephant picking flowers..which was a nice change from the recent carnage he's been spilling out into his drawings..

And..last but not least I had to include my Valentines Day card! The front of course had the usual Happy Valentines Day stuff, but the inside had something really special. Here's how he described it "This is Daddy (the man with the long arms and large ears) and he's watching Star Wars on TV, he's watching Luke Skywalker (the guy in the TV) BUT he's THINKING about Darth Vader so I drew this cloudy shape around him".....My baby's FIRST THOUGHT BUBBLE! What better a Valentines gift could I ask for!

Oh The HUMANITY!

Well, this was a picture of a rather lovely castle, complete with flags and a moat. However, a gaggle of nasty dragons came and set the place on fire leaving one angry King standing in the moat shaking his fist..

Our house, is a very, very, very fine house...

Sorry this hasn't been updated more recently! Mommy and I were very busy decorating our house, baking cookies, shopping for presents and wrapping gifts! We went to lots of parties and I got lots of cool new toys for Christmas! I drew a lot of Christmas pictures and we made cards for our friends and family too! I like drawing rooms lately. This is a picture of our living room. On the far right of the picture is our door. There are tall walls and a Christmas ceiling. By each of the walls is a table with a lamp on it. There is another table with my fishy light too! My couch is in the middle of the room and it has lots of dotty pillows on it. The people are me and baby Jackson (he's my favorite baby). Also, on a high shelf is a fishbowl with some rocks on the bottom and my goldfish Bobby (he died a year and a half ago, but I still miss him!). I hope you like it!

If you look carefully on this one under the mommy bird you can see some eggs with baby birds hatching out of them!

Ships Ahoy!

I made this picture of a boat today. There is a man wearing a fireman hat in the boat and his bird is in the cage to his left. To his right are the boats engine and a fishing pole. There is a net under the boat too that is trying to catch all those fish!

Every girl needs a little black dress....

Today I made Mommy a pretty new dress. I put on a fluffy pink scarf from my dress up box, got my scissors and went to work. I watched "Sleeping Beauty" last week at Grandmas, so I kinda know how to make a dress. Anyway, how hard could it be?

Here is me hard at work:

And here is the finished product! Mommy said she was impressed by my practical choice of fabric (felt) and the way my dress really does flatter every body type.

The extinction of the dinosaurs..

Well, it appears that my drawing dinosaurs phase is all but a passing memory. I've been drawing lots of new things the last couple of days, here's a few of them!

This picture is of a girl in a boat and her friend the alligator is in the water. He's a nice alligator though, so he won't eat her! I'm not sure where her hair and other eyebrow went though!

This is a Zoo, at night (see the bats!). It got a little crumpled because I didn't like one of the bat's wings, but Mommy liked it anyway.

Something new....

Mommy let me try something new today. She got some new kinds of paint out and a big thing called a "canvas". I painted a picture of a Zoo with a volcano shooting green fire everywhere. I had lots of fun and I really liked painting!

I painted this Jack-O-Lantern too!

Autumn in the Park

Mommy, Alex, Dzjadgi and I went to the park. The leaves were all different colors and it was really pretty. Here's some pictures Mommy took!

The Creative Process....

Step 1
Wake up very early in the morning and do some whining about how you NEED your scissors, because you HAVE to cut some paper. Next, while mommy is making breakfast (preferably BEFORE she has her coffee) quietly get a chair so you can get your scissors down from where your mommy hid them. Next, cut some paper.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Step 2
Arrange the paper into the desired form.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Step 3
Give mommy a sob story about how HER fancy glue is better than your gluestick. Once the fancy glue is obtained, glue your picture to a piece of posterboard.

VOILA! A dinosaur collage!

Cut and Paste....

My favorite time to do art is when mommy is making dinner. Tonight I got out my scissors (I was careful) and I cut some paper pieces into different shapes, and then put them together to make a whale.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then mommy gave me a big piece of poster board and a glue stick so I could glue them all together! It took me a long time (cutting all those teeth was tough!), but I did it all by myself! Now mommy just has to find a place big enough to hang it.

Big Blocks

One of my favorite toys to play with is my big blocks and as you can tell from my stoic expresssion in these pictures, I take it very seriously. I'm getting pretty good at balancing them so I can make really tall towers, this one is taller than me! I'm two in the first picture and three in the second, can you see how much I've grown!

Vegetarian T-Rex

Did you know that T-Rex's like to eat other dinosaurs? I did, but mommy said it's not okay to bite cousin Alex for REAL when we play dinosaurs, so I try really hard to remember to just pretend. This T-Rex doesn't eat other dinosaurs though, he's nice and he eats apples!

The neverending dinosaurs....

Can you tell I'm in my "dinosaur phase". Well, I am a three year old boy, what did you expect! Looks like that bird family made it to the other side of the paper!

A letter to Gracie

I got some mail yesterday from my cousin Gracie. She sent me a beautiful picture on green paper that I hung on my fridge. I made her a picture and wrote her a letter today. The picture is of a nice monster in his garden. I made some clouds, but they are the big puffy kind, not the kind that rain falls out of. I also made a mommy bird and her two babies, can you see them? Mommy helped me with the letter, I told her what I wanted it to say and she told me what letters to make. Mommy said that we can go to the post office tomorrow to mail my letter!

*****UPDATE*****

I got a new letter from Gracie today. Here's the picture she sent. It's a nice monster in his garden (the little guy on the right is his shadow), some clouds, a bird family.....this feels like deja'vu. Gracie worked soooooo hard on my picture and I LOVE it...almost as much as I love Gracie......but not quite because I could never love anything as much as I love her!

The finished product....and the aftermath

This is the monster I drew tonight.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is the floor after I drew the monster.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I drew lots and lots of monsters, but I only wanted mommy to hang THIS monster up. Mommy said she liked ALL my monsters, but I didn't. Some of them didn't have the right kind of mouth that I wanted, some of them didn't have enough room for all thier feet and some of them I just didn't like. Being three sure can be tough!

Perhaps Picasso or Dali got started in chalk?

I call this piece....."Melty Playground"!

Composing...a quick look back at the diaper years....

Hmmmm.....no no no, that key just doesn't sound right..

Let's see here, it looks like Beethoven had this same conundrum in his symphony no. 5 in the middle of the third movement...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Maybe if I try a C sharp right here instead....

Ahhhh...YES! Much improved!

Boy, that Beethoven sure does know his stuff! Now, who's going to change my diaper?

ROAR!

For the last week or so I've been drawing lots and lots and lots of dinosaurs. Here's a couple T Rex's and a Stegosaurus (Mommy thought I should put a tail on the T Rex and four legs on the Stegosaurus, but I told her I can draw them however I want!). Mommy thought it's neat that instead of just making a circle for the T Rex's head I drew the eyes and mouth into the shape, she said I'd never done that before...well, I guess there's a first time for everything!
